Shannon Dia - Director of Photography

WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT TO ME

In my  late 20's I hit a low moment. I went into a "Grey Zone" mentality-  where it seems like the most logical thing to do was to see if I could move into the next plain by shoving myself out a window through a glass pane.

The only thing that changed my mind was I wanted to see my daughter grow up into the beautiful caring person she is today.

I have seen too many of my male friends who go by societal standards and decided to either end it all at the end of a pistol or attempt to leave this life-and me having 2 o'clock  in the morning talks with them to convince them not to.  They do not feel heard and feel like there is no other way out.

I want these men to have a voice that mental care is not an unmanly thing, or something they need to be afraid of, and they can build a happy life and live strong.

BIO

Shannon  has been in the entertainment industry since 2004 starting with dance troupes and as an assistant stage dance director, moving into photography and film and just finished her first full-featured film as Director of Photography for Dr Savilles Horror show.

She has previously worked with Director Ann Cabano on the award-winning documentary The Box: Out Of the Impossible lending her creative mark once again to Joemanland.

She continues to aspire to film more documentaries  in the future to encourage mental health in her work and to explore the world at large on what isn't the everyday and bring a new fresh perspective.
