With a personal history of past suicide attempts, hospitalizations, and a difficult and never ending battle with bipolar disorder, Joemanland hits as close to home as I could ever imagine. Talking about and exposing the reality of this taboo topic gives us all a chance to increase understanding and awareness of the struggle many of us face in silence and in darkness. I hope that my score helps to capture, expose, resolve, and convey the intimate and simultaneously explosive journey that any of us could face, and create an energy and experience that inspires and unites sufferers and supporters of those facing the ultimate decision. At our worst, we might confront hard truths that some people might not want but need to hear, and at our best, we just may save a life. I can’t think of a better thing to risk.
